How to bounce your stems for mixing.
See answers to the most common mixing questions below.
No, we don’t offer bulk discounts for multiple mixes or albums. Big Z puts as much effort as possible into each mix.
We offer a 100% money-back guarantee if you’re not happy with the mix.
No, you retain 100% of the rights to your track. We do not take any royalties from you.
We work on a calendar system to keep the number of mixes to a manageable level. This allows Big Z to have the proper time to dedicate to each mix.
Yes, you are more than welcome to lock in a spot on the calendar by booking it now. As long as we receive your stems the day before the mix is scheduled, then we’ll be all set.
Your finished mix will arrive by the end of your scheduled day (Eastern Time / New York). If you’re outside the US, that may be later in your local time.
You can expect a 24 hour response time on weekdays. This excludes weekends and holidays.
Every mix includes up to 5 rounds of revisions. Your first mix is v1 and doesn’t count as a revision, so the included rounds take you up to v6.
If you’d like to keep going past that, you can add unlimited revisions for $99 at any point in the process. Pre-pay when you book, or add it to your mix later from your Big Z Studios account.
Check out the mixing submission guidelines above. If you have more questions about bouncing stems, feel free to contact us.
In the case that you want to have an extended mix and a radio edit for your track, please only send the extended mix stems. After Big Z mixes the extended version of your track, we’ll duplicate the project and cut the radio edit from that version.
You must check the ‘2 versions’ add-on when booking a mix if you’d like to do this.
By default, we send the master as a 24 bit, 44.1 kHz WAV file.
Once revisions are finalized, all of the following versions are available upon request: instrumental, acapella, pre-master, and TV track / live version. There is no extra charge for these versions.
When you schedule a mix, you’ll see the option to pay an additional charge for the mixed stems. We’ve had to add in this charge because of how much extra time it takes to bounce all of the individual stems.
By request, at no extra charge, we can bounce the “grouped” stems for you. Grouped stems would include a bounce of up to 8 major stems (vocals, bass, synths, kick, drums, fx, etc.).
We keep every mixing project file backed up for 1 year. After that, we can no longer guarantee that your mix will stay backed up.
Upon request, we can send the Logic project file to you at no extra charge. This way you can back it up on your own storage system as long as you’d like.
No, we only offer full mixes & masters. This gives Big Z the most control to get your track sounding as professional as possible.
No, we focus only on mixing & mastering. The schedule wouldn’t be sustainable with additional services added.
No, unfortunately there isn’t enough time in the schedule to offer that as a service.
Full vocal mixing, from scratch, is included in the price of a mix. We do not offer a separate, cheaper service to only mix vocals. You would need to pay the full mixing price and would be able to send up to 30 vocal stems for mixing.
We do not offer manual vocal tuning with Melodyne. We leave any manual vocal tuning work up to the singer or producer. Big Z does, however, use subtle autotune when necessary.
Unfortunately, we don’t offer a track feedback service. Big Z balances his time between mixing, designing sound packs, making videos, and producing music. We have to decline feedback requests to keep the schedule under control.
